All-University Awards

Saginaw Valley State University will honor two of the region’s most active community leaders, as well as faculty and staff who display extraordinary enthusiasm and dedication, during SVSU's All-University Awards Banquet Friday, April 21.

SVSU’s most prestigious award for a community member, The Distinguished Service Award, will be presented to Dr. Malcolm Field and Avril Roundtree

SVSU faculty and staff members who also will receive special recognition for outstanding achievement and dedicated service during the 32nd annual ceremony include: 

  • Warren Fincher, professor of sociology, will receive the prestigious Franc A. Landee Teaching Excellence Award.
  • Khandaker Abir Rahman, associate professor of computer science & information systems, will receive the Earl L. Warrick Award for Excellence in Research.
  • The House Family Award for Teacher Impact will be presented to Kenneth Jolly, professor of history.
  • Bethany Eicher will receive the Mary H. Anderson Adjunct Faculty Award for her part-time teaching role in the Department of English.
  • The Award for Empowering Learning in Community Engagement will be presented to Catherine Macomber, associate professor of social work.
  • Ranjana Dutta, professor of psychology, will receive the Excellence in Online Teaching Award.
  • The Ruben Daniels Community Service Award will be presented to Rosina Hassoun, associate professor sociology.
  • One faculty and one staff member will receive the Terry Ishihara Award for Outstanding Co-Curricular Involvement: Rajani Muraleedharan-Sreekumaridevi, professor of electrical & computer engineering and Kathleen Chantaca-Kubczak, administrative secretary. 
  • Veronika Drake, associate professor of english, will receive the Roosevelt Ruffin Diversity Award.
  • The Outstanding Performance Award for Administrative/ Professional staff: Bruce Hart, lab technician chemistry.
  • Kelly Nitschmann, financial services representative in the Campus Financial Services Center, is receiving the Outstanding Performance Award for Support Staff.
  • The 2023 Global Diversity Award goes to Danilo Sirias, professor of management.
  • The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Research Award will be presented to Sara Beth Keough, professor of geography, and Scott Youngstedt, professor of anthropology.

In addition to the special awards listed above, more than 90 faculty and staff who reached between 10 and 45 years of service will be recognized.
